Visit to Chawama PACT members, Lusaka

Capuchin Franciscan Brother Thomas Zulu reports that DPI Zambia is making steady progress in the formation of PACTS.

On 6th June 2009, Br. Tom spent time with the Chawama PAC T which was formed by Isaac Mwanza, a youth from the Baptist Church who attended a Basic PACT-Enablers’ training when Sr Lilian M. Curaming FMM visited Zambia last year. In this PACT there are 23 members, and thus Br. Tom has encouraged them to break into two PACTs. Comprised of youths of numerous Christian denominations, this PACT is hoping to soon reach out to encourage some youths from the Muslim community in their area.

While in Chawama, Br. Tom visited a second PACT which is presently attempting to involve themselves in the security of the area. At the moment, Br. Tom is planning some training for this second PACT.

Rosario Fundanga, DPI Fieldworker in Lusaka has been visiting another PACT in Mtendere Compound and Br. Tom has encouraged her to also visit those in Chawama. Soon Br. Tom will visit Mtendere, Kabwata and Bauleni PACTs as well (all in the Lusaka area).
